These paintings are a part of The Bird Series. Each piece
is based on a specific type of bird. I begin by working out an arrangement of
its colors. On some, the colors make sense, while on others they are somewhat
surprising. I am interested in the effects created by these color combinations
and I like the idea of creating simple compositions using colors that have been
predetermined by nature. All of these birds can be found here in Arizona at
some point during the year, with the exception of the Australian Rainbow Bee-eater.
